Benchmark Safety Inc. is a safety management consulting firm that specializes in offering fit-for-purposes solutions for our clients OHS needs.

Established in 2001, we’ve provided a wide variety of safety management support services to clients in the oil and gas, construction, recreational and manufacturing sectors in the Western Canadian Provinces, the United States and Worldwide.

Benchmark Safety Inc. can help organizations with the development, implementation and monitoring of their health and safety management systems.

With over 60 years of combined domestic and international safety management experience, we understand inter-relationships between OHS program elements and management systems.

Who are we?

Shannon Bolger, B.Sc., CRSP

Shannon is a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) with over 23 years of Occupational Health and Safety experience. She provides development, implementation and monitoring support to organizations across Canada, in the United States and Internationally. This has covered a wide variety of industries, including oil and gas, manufacturing, construction, recreation and ranching.

Shannon has a Bachelor of Science in Biological Anthropology, and certificates in Occupational Health & Safety, Marketing, and Professional Management. She is a current member of the Health and Safety Professionals Canada (HSPC), the Women in Occupational Health & Safety Society (WOHSS), and the Alberta Society of Health and Safety Professionals (ASHSP).

She is a founder and Past Chairperson of the Women in Occupational Health & Safety Society and is a recipient of the 2022, 2023 and 2024 Top Women in Safety Award from Canadian Occupational Safety, recognizing the Top Female Safety Leaders in Canada. Shannon is also the recipient of the inaugural President’s Award from the HSPC for displaying sustained commitment to excellence in the health and safety field in the workplace and community.

Dennis Bolger, P.Eng., CRSP

Dennis is a Professional Engineer and Canadian Registered Safety Professional with over 40 years of domestic and international experience in Engineering, Operations and Safety Management with proven expertise in the areas of:

Development and implementation of HSE management systems
Hazard management – hazard identification, risk assessment and development of controls for risk mitigation
Compliance and Management System Auditing
Emergency Response Planning and Emergency Management
Development and presentation of HSE management/supervisory training courses

Dennis is affiliated with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta (APEGGA), the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (CIM), the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE), the Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (CRSP), the Alberta Society of Health and Safety Professionals (ASHSP), and the Auditing Association of Canada (AAC).
